Keeping your car regularly maintained is crucial in making sure that it stays roadworthy and safe to drive, servicing your car can also help to reduce the costs of repairs and breakdowns in the long run, as well as helping to maintain fuel efficiency.
It is recommended to have your car serviced on a regular basis, there are a few checks
that can be done by yourself to help keep your annual running costs and repair bills down.
The best option is to look over your car on a regular basis, at least every two weeks,
maybe when you are checking your tyre pressures or every 500 miles, and before setting off on any long journeys.
Car maintenance can sometimes seem a bit alien to some, however, some of the checks require no real specialist knowledge of vehicle maintenance and as long as you have your cars handbook, you should be able to find everything when you lift the bonnet. Croydon servicing lists some of the simpler car checks that you should be able to do yourself.
Check the engine oil level, check the brake fluid levels, check the engine’s coolants, a
nd check the screen wash. There are some other simple visual checks that can be
done on the vehicle including looking at the windscreen for chips and cracks and ensuring
that that wipers work and are clean and do not have any tears and ensure the
washer jets are not clogged.
Other tests include your tyre treads depth and the air pressure, don’t forget
to check the pressure of your spare tyre. Check the lights and the bodywork.
